Meet Me in a Land of Hope and Dreams

How many blondes does it take to build a village? I'm not being derogatory. This was the theme of the Extreme Hope fund-raiser my husband had the privilege of speaking at last night, along with news anchor, Tony Parsons, host Bob Saye, singer Claudia Santiago, Anti FGM crusader Anita, and of course the blonde herself, Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson.

Laura-Lynn is funny. She is also courageous, energetic, and creative. Not content to build just one house (which she has already done for Maria in Uganda), Laura-Lynn feels called to build one for every other mother forced to raise her children in the extreme poverty Laura-Lynn witnessed first-hand while visiting the land of her birth. Who would have the audacity, not to mention the creativity to even think of such a thing and the wherewithal to get it done?

Laura-Lynn, that's who! She is going to build an entire village, complete with a business to keep the new-home-owners employed. She is going to take them all by bus from their old homes of filth and squalor to new homes of hope. I am so thankful to have been a part of this. You can have a share in her vision too at www.extremehope.ca.

Laura-Lynn's vision of an extreme makeover for an entire village gives me extreme hope for my life. There are no limits to what I can do for good in this world. On this Canadian Thanksgiving Sunday I have a prayer to accompany my gratefulness for all that God has given me. I am asking my heavenly Father to give me an abundance of His creativity, audacity, energy, vision, and yes, extreme hope so I can bless His world.
