There really is nothing that can compare with the combination of a warm ocean breeze, warm salt water, and warm white sand. I love the sound of the surf. I find it exhilarating to gaze over the ocean and imagine Europe straight across from me (specifically Spain, I later googled).

We are staying at the Marriott on Hilton Head Island. The beach is superb, food and service, not so much, but who am I to complain? They are moving us to the ocean-view room we had requested, today. When I stay near the ocean, my one request is to sit on a balcony and hear, see, and feel it.

With one short blip over the Canada Day long weekend, I am resuming my downward trend weight-wise, plus am on a four-day flossing roll – have not missed since my thorough cleaning at White Rock Dental last Thursday. I totally believe the two are related. I completely believe that ridding toxins, including those hiding in the bacteria between our teeth, improves our total-body health, including our ability to burn fat.

I have managed to stick to my eating plan with the exception of mashed potatoes 2 nights in a row (both shared with my husband, to mitigate the damage). The first time I did not thoroughly read the menu and request a veggie substitution. The second time, I forgot. They were delicious both times – a bright spot on the Marriott menu for sure. If I come back here at my weight, I will indulge every time! The key is to make sure they aren’t temptingly placed on your plate in the first place - ditto for croutons, bread, rice, or pasta. Imagine, I ordered Chicken Alfredo minus the penne pasta last night.

As for wedding-planning, things are humming along. We have catering, cake, flowers, bridesmaid dresses, and as soon as I stop blogging and pay the deposit, a DJ.

I spent the afternoon on a delightful sailing trip with some of the AHL and NHL wives and kids present. I decided it would be perfection to live on this particular peninsula, with boat docked and well-protected on one side of the property and a glorious beach with Atlantic waves on the other. I love the dream!
